Your journey begins with the Tizi-n-Tichka pass, a serpentine route that takes you over the Atlas Mountains at 2260 meters above sea level. Bring some cash for roadside shopping for minerals and fossils along the way.

Day 3: Sahara Excursion

Afterward, swim to wash the sand out of your hair back at the lodge. Following a lunch of traditional Berber ‘Medfouna’ we’ll visit nomads in the desert to learn about their unique way of life. Then, pack up and charge your camera for one of the most spectacular evenings of your life.

Our one-and-a-half-hour dromedary trek will take us through the vast Sahara Desert. As far as the eye can see, nothing but orange waves will surround us. Our destination is a comfy campsite in the middle of the desert. You’ll spend the night in warm canvas tents or perhaps choose to sleep under the stars in a nest of blankets and a pillow of sand.

Day 4: camel Trekk & Fez

The road to Fez follows the ancient trek used by the Berbers through the Middle Atlas Mountains. You’ll break for lunch in Midelt, a picturesque city known for its apple orchards. The landscape shift will shock the system when you realize you began your morning at the top of a dune in the Sahara Desert and now find yourself in the old-growth cedar forests of Ifrane, Morocco’s little Swiss village. Indeed, Ifrane is curiously Swiss-inspired.

This lush region is known for handmade carpets and cedar carvings. You’ll have the opportunity to shop and stroll through the forests before the last leg of your Marrakech desert tour ends in Fez.
