Tour Itinerary
Day 1
Start your adventure early in the morning in this Fes to Marrakech Desert tour, as we journey through the scenic Middle Atlas mountains. By mid-morning, we’ll reach Ifrane, a small city resembling a Swiss village situated among ancient cedar and oak forests. Here, you’ll enjoy the picturesque surroundings and encounter the world’s largest population of Barbary Macaques. These playful and endangered monkeys live in this unique part of the Middle Atlas, often around an 800-year-old cedar tree.
Our journey continues through diverse landscapes, traversing the Middle Atlas and passing through lands dotted with palm groves and nomadic Berber tribes. As we descend from the mountains, a caravan of dromedaries awaits us. These gentle creatures will guide us through the vast sea of sand dunes, offering a truly unique desert experience.
By evening, we arrive at our cozy campsite in the dunes’ heart. For dinner, you’ll be served a delicious traditional Moroccan dish, providing a delightful taste of local cuisine. After dinner, you can choose to sleep in warm canvas tents or opt for a magical night under the stars, wrapped in blankets with a pillow of sand. This marks the end of an exciting first day filled with stunning sights and unforgettable moments.

Day 2
Day two of the Fes to Marrakech Desert tour begins at dawn with the sounds of dromedaries. Start your day by hiking to the top of a sand dune to watch the sky change through every spectrum color. Getting down is easier: stop, drop, and roll. Enjoy a granola bar as a pre-breakfast snack atop your dromedary while your caravan returns to the hotel lodge’s breakfast buffet.
After plenty of mint tea, we’ll visit the Berber village of Khamlia, the birthplace of Gnawa music. Khamlia is surrounded by the tallest dunes in Morocco. Take a relaxing stroll through the town, browse the local carpets, and then we’ll hit the road. We’ll wind our way to the top of the Todra Gorge pass. 300 meters below, the crystal river snakes towards Ouarzazate, with palm groves lining its path. Lunch is served riverside, and you might be brave enough to dip your feet in the freezing cold mountain water.
The afternoon passes tranquility as we drive through incredible scenery and make occasional stops to snack, go to the roadside shop, and take great shots at lookout points. The city of Ouarzazate welcomes us for dinner and a cinematic evening stroll through famous filming locations for movies like “Gladiator” and “Game of Thrones.”

Day 3
Have an early breakfast because a long day of spectacular travel awaits. Your first stop is the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Ksar Ait Ben Haddou. There are many ‘Ksars’ throughout this region of pre-Saharan Morocco. Berber tribes built these fortified earthen villages to protect themselves from invading Arab armies. You’ll enjoy a guided tour of the town and learn about its 500-year history.
As you journey through the Tizi-n-Tichka pass, the same path once traversed by the Berbers, you’ll find your mind filled with scenes from epic films shot at Ait Ben Haddou. This winding pass, a highlight of the Fes to Marrakech Desert tour, will take you over the majestic Atlas mountains, reaching a height of 2260 meters above sea level. Remember to bring some cash for roadside shopping for unique minerals and fossils.
On the other side of the mountains, your journey concludes in the vibrant city and ancient medina of Marrakech. After a final lunch together, you’ll be dropped off in Marrakech to explore on your own or continue your travels. If you’re eager to extend your adventure and visit Essaouira, rest assured, we’re here to assist you. Simply let us know, and we’ll take care of all the necessary arrangements, ensuring your journey continues seamlessly.
