Tour Description
Very few places in this world are untouched by the modern world. Imagine a tour where you won't see a billboard or a McDonalds for days. Where monkeys steal peanuts from your hand and run up the oldest cedar tree in Morocco to munch them. Where your camel gracefully parades your caravan into a red sea of sand and where at night you watch the stars shoot across the sky rather than your TV. This 3-day fes desert tour has it all!

Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Middle Atlas to Desert
The first day of Fes desert tour is jam-packed with travel and sightseeing through the Middle Atlas mountains.
By mid-morning, you’ll be pleasantly surprised to arrive in what appears to be a Swiss village nestled within ancient cedar and oak forests. This small city, called Ifrane, provides a stunning backdrop as we pause to enjoy the scenery and interact with its naughtiest locals—the world’s largest population of Barbary Macaques. These endangered monkeys are often found lounging in an 800-year-old cedar tree.
As we continue our journey through the Middle Atlas, we’ll make several stops to take pictures, rest, and enjoy the stunning natural landscapes and oases the area offers. Our travels then lead us through ever-changing landscapes to the edge of the spectacular red sand dunes of the desert.
On the other side of the mountains lies our destination for the night—a boutique hotel adjacent to the sand dunes of the desert, part of the iconic Fes desert. Here, we’ll savor a regional delicacy for dinner called Medfouna and enjoy the sunset on dromedary-back before settling into a soft bed for a well-earned night of rest.

Day 2: Sahara Desert & Oases
Wake up to a fragrant Moroccan breakfast on your second day of Fes desert tour, featuring mint tea, handmade bread, Moroccan-style pancakes, olives, jams, soft cheese, and local honey. Your morning will be filled with exploration as you delve into the area’s geology and learn about the culture and traditional ways of the nomadic Berber tribes. You’ll discover that little has changed in this region for centuries.
The morning concludes with a delightful lunch followed by a tranquil walk in an oasis, where groves of date palms flourish around a freshwater source in the stark Merzouga Desert. Back at the hotel, take the opportunity to pack up and charge your camera in preparation for one of the most spectacular evenings of your life.
Our one-and-a-half-hour dromedary trek will navigate through the sea of sand dunes. As far as the eye can see, you’ll be enveloped by the mesmerizing waves of orange sand. Our destination is a comfortable campsite in the heart of the desert, where you can spend the night in warm canvas tents or sleep under the stars, nestled in a cocoon of blankets with a pillow of sand.

Day 3: Desert Back to fez
Day 3 begins at the break of dawn and the bellows of dromedaries. You’ll hike to the top of a sand dune to watch the sky morph through every color of the spectrum. Getting down from the top of the dune is much easier than getting up: Stop, drop, and roll. Pack a granola bar because your efforts have already earned you a little pre-breakfast snack on top of your dromedary while your caravan saunters back to the hotel lodge’s breakfast buffet. The long drive back to Fez is punctuated by short stops to appreciate the panoramic views and sample more local cuisine. You’ll have to do a lot of processing and photo editing to fully appreciate these last few days of travel.
